| The European Union Directive, Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE - 2002/96/EC), became effective throughout Europe on August 13, 2005. The main purpose of this Directive is to isolate substances which are negative to health and the environment from the cycle of nature and promote the reuse, recycling and other forms of recovery of such wastes so as to reduce disposal.
As a producer of electrical and electronic equipment, TANDBERG is committed to the collection, treatment, recycling, and environmentally safe disposal of WEEE. All TANDBERG products placed on the market from August 13, 2005 are identified as such with a crossed-out "wheelie bin" symbol on their label.
Under the Directive and its implementing regulations, when customers buy new TANDBERG electrical and electronic equipment they are entitled to:
• |
Send
old equipment for recycling on a one-for-one, like-for-like
basis (this varies depending on the country) |
• |
Send
the new equipment back for recycling when this
ultimately becomes waste |
